What is Bang Energy Drink and how much caffeine does it contain?

In recent times energy drinks have become a very popular choice when it comes to caffeinated beverages. They are commonly found, fast, do not need to be prepared by the consumer, and do not require cups or other tools to be consumed. They are also generally very high in caffeine and come in a nearly endless variety of flavors.

One energy drink that has more recently come to prominence is Bang.

What is Bang?

Bang is an energy drink owned by Vital Pharmaceuticals. While there are several energy drinks that have been around much longer, and have much higher brand recognition, Bang has quickly become the third best selling energy drink in the United States.

There are several reasons why Bang has become so popular so quickly. Aside from its very high caffeine content, it was also originally created as a sports supplement. It is sugar free, which is very different from Bang’s competitors who are loaded with sugar. It is also a zero calorie energy drink. Bang also claims to have creatine in its energy drinks, though it does not list it as an ingredient on their cans.

Of course, one of the other key ingredients for Bang is caffeine. You can find 300mg of caffeine in one standard sized can of Bang. There is, of course, a caffeine free version of Bang if you really enjoy this drink but are concerned about caffeine consumption.

Variety of Flavors

There is no shortage of variety when it comes to Bang energy drinks. In fact there are 29 different caffeinated flavors and nine different decaffeinated flavors. Of these flavors, Bang is known for discontinuing flavors that do not sell well while frequently coming up with new flavors. Some of these flavors are pretty basic, while some are definitely unusual and have fun names.

For example, there are tame sounding flavors like Blue Razz and Root Beer that your average consumer would probably be interested in. But there are also flavors like Rainbow Unicorn and Radical Skadattle that more adventurous consumers might be drawn to. With an ever growing list of flavors to try, there is likely to be something for everyone.

Caffeine Content

As we mentioned before, Bang has 300mg of caffeine per can for its standard line of drinks. There is a caffeine free version which of course has 0mg of caffeine per can, and there is also Bang Natural which has 250mg of caffeine per can.

The FDA in the United States recommends that a healthy adult not drink more than 400mg of caffeine per day. The 300mg of caffeine in Bang is very high and walks the line a little bit in terms of safe caffeine content, but it does still fall within a safe level of caffeine. For comparison, 400mg of caffeine is roughly four cups of coffee.

In comparison to other popular energy drinks, like Red Bull and Monster, Bang is on the much higher spectrum of caffeine content. With 300mg of caffeine per can, Bang has almost twice as much caffeine as the same sized can of Monster. The standard size can of Red Bull is a little more than half the size of a standard size can of Bang, but it only has 80mg of caffeine in those cans.

There are a handful of energy drinks that do have more caffeine than Bang, but none of them are even close to as popular as Bang. This is for a variety of reasons, weather it is because of nutritional content or the lack of variety in flavor that Bang has to offer.

What About Any Other Nutritional Values?

The nutritional value of Bang really sets it apart from other energy drinks. Most energy drinks are loaded with sugar and calories, and that is part of the reason why there is a crash associated with drinking energy drinks. Bang strives to avoid that crash while still giving consumers a boost.

Bang has no sugar in it, and is calorie free. Other energy drinks do sometimes offer sugar free options, but Bang’s standard beverage is sugar free. It is worth noting though that there is one Bang beverage that does contain calories, Bang Keto Coffee. It is about on par with other energy drinks with 130 calories in a 16 ounce can.

Bang’s Variety of Products

While Bang is mostly known for their line of energy drinks, they do also make quite a few other products. They also make energy shots, a pre-workout beverage, even a hard seltzer, and more!

The variety of flavors that we mentioned earlier also play a big part in Bang’s popularity. There is a mini culture surrounding them, and those involved tend to take their personal favorites seriously. While some are loved, there are others that are not so loved.

Purple Pain

There is one flavor of Bang that got the company in a bit of hot water. Recently, Bang decided to try and release a flavor called Purple Rain. There was no intentional relation to Prince or his work, but that is still a name that will most likely make you think of Prince. His estate sent Bang a very seriously worded letter warning them that they would “suffer at their own peril” if they released the flavor with that name.

Bang wisely decided to respect Prince’s estate’s wishes and did not release Purple Rain. Sadly, because of the choice of name we will likely never get to experience what might have been.

Conclusion

Bang is one of the most popular energy drinks in the United States. It is a sugar free, calorie free beverage with an extremely high caffeine content. While it is safe to drink one of these beverages in a day, drinking any further caffeine would likely put you outside of the FDA’s safety limits when it comes to caffeine consumption.

There is a seemingly never ending variety of flavors of Bang, and the company frequently comes out with new ones. While the flavor of some of them might not be obvious by their title, others are much more forward like Blue Razz.

Overall, it is easy to see why Bang quickly became so popular. It comes with most of the sought after benefits of energy drinks without some of the less desirable aspects such as sugar content and high calorie content.
