Natural vs. Artificial Chocolate Flavor
It’s important to understand the difference between natural and artificial chocolate flavor before you choose which chocolate-tasting coffee you want to start with. It’s possible for coffee to grow infused with a natural chocolate flavor if the soil meets certain conditions.
For example, coffee grown in lower altitude locations such as Central and South America is more likely to contain sweet chocolate undertones. The chocolate flavor in these blends will be more subtle, allowing the coffee’s natural taste to take over.
